SPEAKER_05Once again, to One Million and One of Progressive Podcast. I have Corey C4 with me. As always, it's What's up, everybody?
SPEAKER_00This is JPO coming in here, holes.
SPEAKER_05Yes, Jordan Pierce Owens, my best friend. Uh we have been we have been gone for a uh a month. And wow, what a bunch of shit happened in the month. It's been the last one was June 8th. And we took a little break. A nice little it was it was needed, it was necessary, it was a thing that had to happen. Uh but we are back here, and a lot of shit got shaken up this past weekend. So much shit, in fact, that we don't really have. Okay, so we're gonna get going here. What is this uh night of champions read Saudi Arabia? It uh was a big night there, a lot of stuff went down. Uh the King of the Ring finals opens up the whole thing. J Uso versus Oba Femi. And uh this one, uh, you know, it was pretty much what I expected. Femi wins this one, and uh Byron Sachs in interviews pass uh you know, Oba after it. He says he's got a big decision to make who's gonna be the champion and face the champion. That's another thing we're gonna be talking about here soon. Uh, but uh big win for Oba, not very uh surprising. It's kind of been the trajectory it's been he's been going on. But uh yeah, he picked up the big win there. Uh Danhausen arrives, but he's interrupted pretty quickly by Liv Morgan, who says he owes Judgment Day money. And then Danhausen curses Liv, uh, but he receives a big old smack to the side of the face for his troubles. But uh hey, Liv got cursed. The curse is uh a very powerful thing in WWE right now. Will it affect the next match, which is Queen of the Ring finals? EOSky taking on the uh women's world champion and uh finalist of Queen of the Ring, Liv Morgan. Uh the curse is still undefeated. EO picks up the big win uh and uh tells Liv right out the gate. She's not even leaving any question to it. She's coming for her at SummerSlam. We had the two uh the two uh the crownings of the king and the queen right out the gate. And then that led to uh the steel cage match. Seth Rollins versus Braun Breaker. Uh Seth, before he gets in the ring, he's throwing in some weapons, uh weapons in there before he gets his entrance done. And uh this one was uh, you know, it's a it's a steel cage match. These two uh did a pretty good job. Um there was some uh heavy duty uh blows in this, got breaker some proper color. Uh and uh it actually looked really, really cool. It almost looked like he had like a half a mask over his eye. I thought that was a pretty cool effect. It's really neat.
SPEAKER_00Uh Did you see the weird thing uh YouTube did? Yeah, they blurted, didn't they? Like a titty was out. Right, yeah. It was really weird.
SPEAKER_03I heard it was five go ahead.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I'm gonna say, like, do the black and white thing I know they used to do sometimes. The blurring ahead just looks so weird as he's writing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05No, it was weird. I saw I saw people talking about that, and and I saw um because I had seen once before. Remember when we were talking about when Randy Orton first turned on Cody and he bloodied him up and got him all beat down real hard? And then I was like, and the in the Canadian one, it was all blurred out. So I'm wondering if that's some sort of international thing they have to deal with, or so they just make sure it's like that, or I don't know, because when I was watching it live, it was definitely there.
SPEAKER_00Black and white. I just I at least go black and white.
SPEAKER_05I I agree, yeah. I would much rather have the black and white than a full-on, you know, uh censoring of it.
SPEAKER_00Pretty silly. That's a problem.
SPEAKER_05Uh breaker kicks out of a pedigree and stomp combo, showing that he's still a strong guy. Uh Braun tries to get up though, but Rollin hits him with a super stomp for one more to pick up the win. And Cole continues to say, so that everybody hears it, that Seth Rollins is done with the vision. So it was very, very uh there was a very definitive sound in the way Cole was saying it. And when we get to Raw, there was you know some definitive thing, or at least it seems definitive, of the uh future of the vision, at least as far as uh Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman apparently goes. We'll see what happens with that. I'll talk about that more shortly. But before we do that, we got the United States Championship on the line. Ricky Saints taking on Trick Williams, little yachty at ringside. Uh let's see. But not for long, though. Uh he gets uh kicked out of there pretty quickly. Uh Ricky Saints kind of got him uh kind of narked on him a little bit and got him thrown out. Um pretty good match between Ricky and Trick. Uh Trick retains and keeps the U.S. title. He tries to sneak up, but Yachty comes back with a kendo stick and uh Trick hits a backhand. Then Yachty hits a people's elbow on Ricky Saints.
SPEAKER_02So not looking good for Ricky that night.
SPEAKER_05Uh sticking with the U.S. title, it's the women's time. Jade Cargill takes on Tiffany Stratton. Uh about halfway through the matchup, or towards the end, even uh the baddies, Meechin and Bfeb end up getting involved while the ref doesn't see, which brings Chelsea Green, uh Tiffany's well, she thinks she's Tiffany's best friend, but Tiffany's best friend comes to the ring to even things up. But Jade drags her uh until Jade drags her in the ring. But Charlotte Flair shows up, grabs the belt, and hits Jade while all this chaos is going on, and that leads to a win and a retain for Tiffany Stratton. Looks like we got some Flair and Jade Cargill stuff getting cooked up a little more here. Uh, and finally, it's the main event. Triple threat undisputed WWE championship. Sammy Zayn taking on Gunther, taking on the champ, Cody Rhodes. Uh, of course, as usual, Saudi's usually all the way behind Sammy, and they are definitely all the way behind Sammy in this one. Uh let's see. See, you know, it's a good triple threat match between these guys. And uh, there's a lot of action. It's kind of one of those things that a uh a recap doesn't really do justice, you know. So much going on in triple threats anyway. Um but uh towards the end, Sammy gets put through a commentary table and it takes out takes out Michael Cole's audio. Corey Graves has to scramble for a minute, and uh, but eventually gives his headset over to Cole to make sure that Cole gets the uh final call on this. Uh and made me feel for them because you know we do commentary, so shit happens on the fly sometimes. Like, how are we supposed to do with this? And keep doing our jobs. It was actually pretty uh impressive of them to not, you know, be like, ah, whatever's gonna happen is gonna happen. Um fucking Smyzane wins. He wins the WWE championship uh after uh reversing a crossroads into a roll-up pin. And Sammy Zayn is the new undisputed WWE champion. Uh so it was uh very uh you know what it was unexpected because it's kind of like I don't I wasn't I wasn't going that route with with I didn't actually believe Sammy was gonna win, but I put it in my notes too. I want Sammy to win this, and uh and so I was I was pretty shocked when it when it actually happened. Um and uh I figured that it was gonna be kind of a uh it was big there, but it's not is it gonna be as big once he gets back to the States? And I'll talk more about that when you get to SmackDown. But uh Sammy is the new champion, unexpected. A lot of people uh were shocked by this one. Um and uh yeah, that's uh night of champions.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, feel a good moment, happy for Sammy. Uh we wanted him to have the title for a minute, so yeah, very cool.
SPEAKER_05It was good stuff. Uh next, right into it, and the NXT Great American Bash from Orlando, Florida. We started out hot and heavy with the NXT Championship. Naraku taking on Tony D'Angelo. Uh right out the gate, D'Angelo Spears Naraku through the perch ball. Just just sets the tone pro pretty quick. Tony's uh face is still all bandaged up. Bandaged, excuse me, let me try that again. Tony's still all bandaged up from the fireball uh on Tuesday that uh Naraku flashed out of the contract that he had to sign. Uh ref tells Tony he's gonna stop the match. Tony's like, don't you dare! And uh, which is good because Tony uh retained in in a good uh title match, I thought it was. Um next we have the NXT Women's North American Championship. Tatum Paxley trying to regain the title she lost to Zarya. She does not. Zarya retains in this one. She was um unsuccessful and has to go to the back of the line, Tatum. Or go to the main round. I don't know what they're doing with her. I think she's gonna stay in XT for a little while. Longer. And she's already been there for a little while. You know what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00She got an ear tattoo. How do you feel about ear tattoos?
SPEAKER_05Uh, I'm fine with any tattoos, honestly. I wouldn't get an ear tattoo because I don't think it would look good on me. But if you have nice ears, go for it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I've never I haven't seen it happen often, but uh yeah, looks nice.
SPEAKER_05If it fits you, then then it fits you. Uh Shiloh Hill versus Tristan Angels is next. Shiloh gets the win in this one. Uh, I don't know if that ends their feud or not over the whole Mr. uh Mr. NXT thing that went on a couple weeks ago. Uh Shiloh seems since then, Shiloh seems to have kind of gotten into almost a more darker mindset, it seems. Like, I don't know. He just seems like they're like, all right, he was all giggly and happy, and then he got screwed over a bit, and now he's like, I'm gonna fucking kill anyone, and I don't give a fuck. But I'm still laughing. I don't know. I'm I'm it's hot and hot and cold with him. I'm trying to figure out what they're doing with them. Maybe that's what it is. We can't figure it out, so that's the thing. He's un he's unexpected he's uh you know, unexpected, not an unexpected. He's you can't you can't tell what's coming. Unpredictable. Golly, I'm missing my words today, man.
SPEAKER_00The the writers might not know either. They're trying to figure it out.
SPEAKER_05They are too, yeah. Uh next is the NXC Women's Speed Championship, Ariana Grace versus Champ Ren Sinclair. Birthright R at Ringside. Try to get involved at some point, but it doesn't work out. With the Ren retaining her speed championship with 13 seconds remaining. Good job to Ren Sinclair. I am a proud member of the Run QCC and uh all about all of that uh fun stuff at uh and cake. I like Cake too, just like her and Kendall Gray. More on Kendall Gray in a second. But first, we got a grudge match, Saquon Sugars versus Dion Lennox. The fallout of Dark State happened swift and fast and has led to this. Saquon Sugars taking on Deion Lennox. Osiris and James eventually come out to ringside. Uh, but despite that, Sugars picks up the big win. But of course, right away, you're gonna have to get one of those air horns. It's a post-match beatdown. Deion Lennox beats him down with a baseball bat. Uh, so we will see. I guess they're not done with each other yet. Maybe it's gonna be even a double grudge match, a baseball bat match. They'll call it the home run derby street fight. Uh next is the North American Championship. Miles Bourne defending against former team member Tavion Heights. And uh good match between these two. Bourne picks up the win, retaining the title. And that finishes, or no, that doesn't finish. The finish of the night, though, is NXT Women's Championship, Kendall Gray versus Lola Vice. Um real fun match between these two. Uh both of them very sound. Actual, you know, they're they've both been in MMA. Uh Kendall Gray's uh a mat wrestler. It's so you get these people who are really good who uh who've been good in amateurs and good in uh, you know, I don't even want to say uh it sounds weird saying amateur in ProRo, but you know what I mean. Or saying actual things. You know what I'm saying. Shoot, they're good shooters, brother brother. Uh so uh they uh they put on a good match because they know how to do a good job, too. Uh at one point, Kalani Jordan comes out to try and interfere, but Ren Sinclair stops her and fights her to the back. And then we get another I got another big pop this weekend for myself. I was very excited to see Kendall Gray become the new NXT women's champion. Um I was a big fan from the moment I saw her. She reminds me a lot of I I know this gets thrown around with with people who can, you know, wrestle well, but she reminds me of Kurt Angle in a way, in a sense of like she's a really good wrestler, she's kind of funny, and she can really go in the ring. So it's it's one of those things um that uh that I like to see. Those are those are good trifecta for me. So yeah, Kendall Gray, new NXT women's champion. And that's just the weekend. That's just Saturday and Sunday, right? Uh after a long flight back, WWE is in Atlantic City, New Jersey for Monday Night Raw. They're also gonna be taping SmackDown, which I'll get, but it's uh gonna be in the same place too. Uh but first they open up Raw with the 20. Oh, I will also uh before we get to it, because I'm gonna it's gonna be coming up in all of this, too. Uh there was an altercation between Nick Aldous and Gunther after Gunther lost uh uh in the triple threat. And uh there was you know, they were yelling at each other, F-bombs flowing around, pushing each other, grabbing each other by collars. Uh so a lot of people are kind of thinking maybe we'll we'll have uh Gunther officially end Nick Aldis' career at SummerSlam, maybe, you know. He's the career killer. I'll just are you gonna get one more match and then huh?
SPEAKER_00No, I wasn't thinking of it. I never thought about the career any part, you know. Yeah, yeah. His debut and his final match, all in one match.
SPEAKER_05It was debut WE match, and it's the last one of his career. It would be pretty proetic, I think. I like it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, so we'll get more to that here uh in a second, but um the King of the Ring winner, Oba Femi, opens up the show, and it is not very long before Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman arrive. Brock actually has some talking he's gonna do. He says he he wants to help Oba with his decision for SummerSlam, and he runs down a bunch of stuff and talks about uh how Oba called him a bitch behind his back and stuff, and then Brock says to Oba, talk shit, get hit, and then uh kicks him in the balls and hits an FI. And uh then they bail, and then Oba gets back up on his mic and uh says Brock's still a bitch, which he says it to his face, and he wants them at SummerSlam, and not just at SummerSlam, he wants them in hell in a cell. So uh later on we get the uh decision. Adam Pierce asks if Oba's sure he wants to forfeit his title opportunity. Oba says the title's gonna be there. I'm not going anywhere, the title's always gonna be there. Uh, but he wants Brock and he wants him in hell in a cell. That's what we're getting. Another one of the first truly confirmed matches for SummerSlam. Brock Lesnar versus Oba Femi. One more time, perhaps. Uh Hell in a Cell. Uh let's see. Oh, yeah, Austin Theory uh runs into Paul Heyman in the back and says, Hey, you didn't say anything. I didn't know you were gonna be here. And then Heyman very flippantly goes, Well, now you know, and walks away. So I don't know. I don't think Paul's interested in being with a bunch of losers in his mind, since everybody's losing. I don't think he'll stop being with Braun Breaker, though. I am curious to see where they go with this.
SPEAKER_02I think him and Braun Breaker are kind of a a a natural fit, I think. Um, let's see here.
SPEAKER_05Next we have Rey Mysterio versus Ethan Page. A good match with these two. Uh Mysterio picks a win picks up a win here. Dom and JD are looking for Danhausen in the back, they want their money, and they're trying to find it. Instead, Dom takes it out on Danhausen's Knicks, New York Knicks jersey that he got as a gift from the team for helping them win the NBA championships with his cursing and his uncursing. Uh, and then they beat the fuck out of his rat uh out of his lab. They wreck his lab. And uh more on that as it develops. Joe Hendry comes out and has a concert celebrating the Street Prophets, who the week before won the World Tag Team Championship from uh the uh the Vision. Uh Montez and Angelo thank Seth Rollins for his help and also thank Joe Henry. Hendry starts to sing a song, and then the prophets sing kind of sing in quotes back up uh before mocking Austin Theory, who interrupts and says the prophets stole his tag titles and says next week he wants a rematch. But before we get to that, Joe Hendry's like, hey, how about a match with us tonight, right now? And that's what we get. Joe Henry taking out Austin Theory, and the woes for Austin continue as Joe Henry picks up the win in this one. EO Sky comes out to talk uh her about her Queen of the Ring win and her match at SummerSlam. Liv interrupts, because of course, and then uh Rockel and Roxanne surround Eo while uh Liv is threatening her. Eo tries to fend them off, but the numbers game proves too much, and they work over her knee until the officials come to break it up. So it looks like the uh the knee is what they're working on. Keep her out of the sky because she's the genius of the sky, Jordan. You can't be in the sky without a knee. I mean you could, but he'll probably fall real quick.
SPEAKER_02I wouldn't recommend it.
SPEAKER_05Uh LA Knight.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Versus Jimmy Uso. This was a uh rematch from the week before. Some stuff got involved, and LA's nah, I don't want to win it that way. I want to beat this guy right. I actually kind of like the guy. Uh, but uh Jay Uso's on commentary during this, and at one point, Knight just straight up takes. Jay out with a kick to the face. Um, but uh Jay ends up getting the the upper or the last laugh, I should say, uh, by distracting knight and allowing his brother Jimmy to roll him up for the win. Post-match, though, Knight hits a post-match attack. Jay goes after Knight, but as he does, Solo Sokoa hits a Samoan spike on his brother Jimmy. Knight takes down uh Jay with the BFT, and they're looking at each other like uh wait a minute. Maybe I and Knight's like, okay, well, maybe I do. Maybe I will talk to Solo. I don't know. He looked he looked less unlikely, I should say, to uh take Solo up on his offer to fight against the bloodline than he did previously. So where's that gonna go? How's that gonna be? Uh we'll see. There's even there's a lot of this and that bloodline story just permeates through the whole thing. Little bits of bloodline all over the place. Sounds pretty gross.
SPEAKER_02Bits and bloodline.
SPEAKER_05Sounds like a hor it sounds like an AEW pay-per-view. Gunther and Nick Aldous are on leave, is what I was going to get to earlier. Uh Gunther got suspended, and Nick Aldous was put on administrative leave, which is basically he was suspended, uh, after their backstage blow-up. And that means for a little bit at least, Adam Pierce is going to be the interim general manager of SmackDown, as well as continuing his general manager duties on Raw. Uh Lyra, uh, of course, oh wait, when did we get to that? That was the week before. Okay, yeah, that's why I didn't say anything about it. Unless I missed it when I was doing the count. Is that Lyra match? That was uh last week, not at the pay-per-view, right? I can't tell.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, last week I think.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, that's right. That's what I thought. Yeah, it wasn't on the P. L. I I uh okay. So yeah, uh the week before, Lyra and Bailey were trying to get the tag titles, it did not work out. Uh, or get a spot to the tag titles, it did not work out. Lyra turns on Bailey, and it looks like Lyra's going down the oh my god, I'm crazy and disheveled look. Uh, instead of Bailey this time. We'll see what happens with that. Um yeah. Next we have Maxine Dupree versus Raquel Rodriguez. This is for the number one contention to the Intercontinental Championship. Raquel picks up the win, which means she will face Sol Ruca for the IC title. Danhausen comes back to his lab finding it in disarray, and he's just totally flustered over it. Liv comes up and says he got what he deserved for cursing her and taking Dom and JD's money. So Danhausen is left with a ah, what the hell? Where's my stuff? Why'd you do this? What's going on? Will he get comeuppants? We're about to find out because it's Chad Gable versus JD McDonough, the one with the head. Uh Dom Mysterio at ringside. In and he's wearing Dan Housen's Knicks jersey, you know, being a little shit like he is. This is a really good match, which I kind of was expecting, and I'm glad I was right, because these two are very fun to watch, and I love it. And you get a couple of really good uh good uh technicians and high flyers kind of going at each other. It's it makes for good stuff. This was a good one. Uh Danhausen eventually brings out a briefcase next to commentary, feigning that he's brought the uh the money that they want. Don ends up chasing Danhausen off. Gable picks up the win, however. Afterwards, though, Dom and JD think it's their money. They go over to open it, and then they get a big blast of white dust in their face, which cracks Michael Cole up. Uh Danhausen comes back and rips his jersey off of Don and Bales. But then Raquel attacks Danhausen at the entrance, tears the Knicks jersey back off, and the Knicks jersey is still in possession of the judgment day. That is not a good idea. Those curses are potent, I tell you. We still haven't shaken ours. Uh closing out the show with Roman Reigns coming out. Uh, Seth Rollins interrupts pretty quickly and challenges Roman for a SummerSlam match. Seth says he owns Roman in the ring, that he's never lost to him. He owns him in his mind, in the ring, in his heart. Seth says he'll always be the fly in. Well, he didn't say this. I said he's gonna be the fly in Roman's ointment. The point is, he's saying he's gonna be the fly in Roman's ointment forever. Uh he says he's owned Roman ever since he put a chair to his back, ending the shield. And uh really good, really good promo from Seth uh in this one. Definitely worth a look. Seth says he's done everything. Says Roman has done everything except beat him, and says this may be their last chance to finish their business between each other as they're both getting older, they're a lot closer to the end than they are at the beginning. Great stuff from Seth, like I said. Uh uh Roman says he needs to beat Seth, says that Seth is right. He has to do this is something he needs to do to actually fulfill his career in a meaningful way. Uh and he accepts his challenge, and then they stare each other down to end the show. If you're gonna end in a promo segment, that's a pretty good way to do it right there. Tense drama. I uh you made me want to see a match I've seen a bunch of times already again. So, yeah. I'm uh I'm into it. Alright, next we got some fallout from the great American Bash on NXT. It is June 30th from Orlando, Florida. And we start out with the new NXT women's champion, Kendall Gray, opening the show. Uh and after stating her championship intentions, Ren Sinclair comes out with a cake to celebrate. But Kalani Jordan reigns on their parade. Uh, but it's not too long before Tatum Paxley attacks her, and then Ren and Kendall uh fist cake into their mouths in celebration.
SPEAKER_02That was cute.
SPEAKER_05It was very cute. I love that. Uh then we find out Keanu Carver has attacked Vikingo in the back, which cancels a uh planned uh Latin American championship match. What are we gonna do? Stone's gotta figure something else out. Uh we got NXT tag titles on the line. Hio del Dr. Wagner Jr. and his brother Galeno taking on the Vanity Project.
SPEAKER_00Jackson Drake and I wanted to say something real quick though about the about the last segment.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh the way he they set it up though almost seemed like like, okay, so Keanu basically got his way.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he saw he sure did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was kind of it was kind of weird booking, like, alright, fine, you attacked him. Well, here's a match.
SPEAKER_03But that's what Booker Booker even says that on commentary. He goes, You call that a punishment?
SPEAKER_00He does. Yeah, and then also on the flip-flop, too, poor EK just got screwed out of a title match. Now he has to fight this big dude. Like, I don't know. I didn't feel it didn't totally jive sense-wise.
SPEAKER_05No, no. I it I think it kind of read a little bit like Stone was just terrified of Carver, and he's probably like, I'll just give you whatever you want. Whatever, dude.
SPEAKER_00Uh I don't know if he sold it as well though, but yeah, it was probably.
SPEAKER_05Maybe he didn't sell that way, but it was kind of like, I don't know. It it uh sounded like he was just trying to okay, okay, okay, with just to do it. Like, oh, I got so much going on. The man's always in a in a tivvy of anxiety. Uh tag titles Dr. Wagner, you know, the son of Dr. Wagner Jr. and his brother Galeno versus the Vanity Project. Jackson Drake, Micah at Ringside. Uh, Vanity Project retains in this one. Mason Rook is up next against Jackson Drake. Micah and Vanity Project still at ringside. Uh, Vanity Project run interference at one point, which allows Drake to pick up the win over Mason Rook. And what we were just talking about, EK Prosper uh versus Keanu Carver. Prosper actually ends up winning this after uh Hank shows up and sends Carver into the LED barricade behind the ref's back, just threw Carver for a loop, and Prosper was able able to uh there's a Tank. I thought it was Hank. Which one's Hank? Is he the shorter, stout one, or is he the tall one?
SPEAKER_00I I thought Hank is Seth Rogan and Tank is does that make sense to you?
SPEAKER_05I get what you're saying, yeah. Uh well, one of them, Hank or Tank. One of those guys. One of them. The Seth Rogan one. He's uh he's he's Seth Rogan?
SPEAKER_00I think so.
SPEAKER_05He's the shorter, stouter one, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Well, one of them.
SPEAKER_00No, it looks like Tank. I think it's Tank.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_00Plus Hungry.

SPEAKER_05Whoever it was, they uh fucked up uh Carver and got him out of his game and led to a win for E.K. Prosper. Uh let's see. Natty and her Padawans are getting sassy in the back with Kendall Gray, and she wants a title match.
SPEAKER_00Her Padawans.
SPEAKER_05And uh she gets the title match, uh, which Kendall Gray is happy to oblige. Jada Parker versus Carmen Petrovic is next. Natty and Co. are at ringside. Uh Jada picks up the big win here, and her uh rival is not too pleased with that. Tony D'Angelo is out for a promo. Uh not long though before Naraku attacks D'Angelo with red mist and then beats him. He's only got one good eye. He gets spit in a good eye with red mist, and then beaten up with a chair afterwards. So it's not over yet with Naraku and Tony D'Angelo. Main event of the evening. Tatum Paxley taking on Kalani Jordan. Kendall Gray's on commentary. However, Gray gets knocked the hell out by who was that? Callie Armstrong, I think her name was. I think that's what they said. I think that's what they said. Anyway, she took out uh the champ, Kendall Gray. Uh Kalani Jordan ends up picking up the win in this. And that's the end of SmackDown. Or no, that's the end of NXT. Smackdown's about to begin, uh, which was taped after Raw, but it was shown on July 3rd uh from Atlantic City, New Jersey. We opened the show with the brand new undisputed WWE champion, Sammy Zane. And I was kind of right. There's obviously, you know, like a bit of uh uh, you know, there's there's a bit more booze in this crowd, let's say, than there were in uh Riyadh. Um, but there was still, you know, you could definitely hear uh uh a lot of the cheers too. It was maybe not 50-50, maybe a little 60-40 in the booze, but they were there.
SPEAKER_00Well I also wonder if it's partly just also because like his character is still kind of what's yes, of course.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00Some of the booze are just storyline booze because the other one is like for Sammy.
SPEAKER_05It's just sometimes when those things happen, it's almost like okay, we like him too much that we're it's it's definitely a good thing because that's what they're going for. But you know, sometimes those things can get away from each other because we really like this guy, and oh, cool, we weren't expecting, so we want to cheer him now. Um, but uh that wasn't the case. Yeah. And Sammy nails it in this, he's nailing this character at every every point, I think. He's just doing really good. He's really good at the smarmy kind of self-righteous kind of shit, and I I really, I really like that. And he's right, too, in a lot of cases. That's the that's the part about it that is that kind of sucks. Like he has gotten screwed out of a lot of opportunities. He has been, you know, dealt with a lot of bullshit in the opportunities that he has had.
SPEAKER_00Tell me what I'm telling like exactly, exactly.
SPEAKER_05Uh, but anyway, Sammy's there. He comes out, cuts a nice, passionate promo about how he's the new champion, and it's not long before the golden boy, Cody Rhodes, arrives. Cody shakes Sammy's hand and congratulates him, and he's about to leave, but Sammy uh says, No, no, we need to stop playing games. And I got a burp. Hang on. Oh, that was a good one. Uh uh, so yes, uh Sammy's I don't want to play games. Let's talk about what this is about. But then Jey Uso comes out uh and he hugs Sammy and they uh give each other daps and do their little uh bro hand slap thing. And uh then uh Sammy gets a warning shot from Jay Uso telling him he's gonna bring the title back to the family. Uh Sammy says no one's touching his title, not not Shay, not Cody. Uh he's the champ. He gets to decide that kind of stuff. Uh but Adam Pierce comes out, reminding everybody he's the acting GM of SmackDown while Nick Aldous is out. And Pierce says Sammy will in fact defend his undisputed title on Monday Night Raw. Uh keep in mind this is a SmackDown title, so you know. What? And Sammy even brings that up a little later, too. Like, I this is not even, but this is why I'm I see. I don't know. They they kind of have been putting peppering in little things and little like uh inferences to Adam having favored to the bloodline. So it's been dropped in by LA Knight and other you know folks are like, oh, you sound a little too cozy with the bloodline, and he even kind of feels like it sometimes. It feels like it sometimes. Not necessarily because this obviously obviously sounds like he's trying to at least appease some sort of bloodline favor because yeah, he makes a match, it's gonna be Jay Uso versus Cody Rhodes, and whoever wins is uh going against Sammy. Now again, this it's thin in that regard because obviously nothing happened, and it was a pretty straight-up match. We'll talk about that in a minute. That's the main event. Uh, but uh so that's what's set up. Sammy's gonna defend his title on Raw against the winner of Jay and Cody. Which I guess was the I saw graphic, I think it's the first time that the WWE title has been defended on Raw in like a long time. I can't remember how long. It's been at least 10 years since the actual WWE title was defended on Raw. Um first match is Charlotte Flair, Chelsea Green, and Tiffany Stratton versus Jade Cargill, Meechin, and Bfab. Jade and the baddies pick up the win here as the Chelsea Green as the goofy sidekick continues. I kind of take it, but I'm wondering when the other shoe's gonna drop and she's gonna turn on somebody or somebody's gonna turn on her. I don't know. How do you think they're gonna deal with Chelsea?

Ray Phoenix retains. Very happy to see that. I like that. I I hope that becomes a staple.

Uh let's see, Jimmy uh Uso and Jacob Fatou are asking Royce Keyes where Solo is, and Keyes isn't snitching. Keyes is like, Jacob, you and I have been boys forever, longer than your family has given you any kind of uh love. Uh and you know, you need to remember who your real people were. Can I just say that I and I've said it before on the podcast, I I am I have been truly happy with Lil Yachty being the hype man for Trick Williams. Because he seems like he's you know into it. He seems like he's been he's put in the work that he may have he's gotten some notes, I'm sure, and he's improved upon things. He's not jumping into things too much with you know with uh with words. I saw him actually sell getting beat down like a manager recently.

SPEAKER_05Definitely, that's how I feel. That's he feels like a wrestling manager, and that's that's exactly what you want him to feel. Um, and he did a good job in this segment too. Uh Hayes uh says Trick is great, but he isn't him. Uh Trick says he really does know Melo like the back of his hand, and then he smacks him with the back of his hand. And that uh ends the segment with Yachty and well no, it doesn't. Yachty and Trick go to lead to end the segment, and then Carmelo Hayes dives on Trick. So it looks like the fight foreverness potential between Trick and Melo is continuing. Dan Houseon lets everybody know that he will be facing JD McDonough, the one with the head, uh, at Saturday night's main event, July 18th, uh, when he returns to New York City to great fanfare. I'm wondering how long it's gonna be now before Priest turns heel and goes, well, I guess he just showed up at AAA and he's being real heavy, like biker taker style. And uh which makes sense since Taker's the booker. Um and he's he's been he's been it's been a pet project with uh priest and taker for a while, I think. Um but uh yeah, truth. I'm waiting for truth to get beat down by priests, is what I'm saying. Um and it might happen if the War Raiders win the uh tag titles from them in a title versus title match. It is a winner takes all situation, triple-A titles and WWE tag titles. Who will win? Uh Tamatonga lets Finn Balor know that he is leaving all of his past behind him, and he's starting with Finn and uh beats him down with the help of Tala and uh leaves Finn questioning what's coming. All of his past is coming to him next, too. Oh man, what's gonna happen? Decisions, decisions uh next, the undisputed WWE Championship number one contenders match, Cody Rhodes versus Jay Uso. Cody Rhodes wins this match, and he will face Sammy Zayn for the title on Monday, which is as we record this, is a Sunday. It's going to be tomorrow night. Um, which is what happens usually after a Sunday is a Monday night. Um so nah, that's how Raw ends, then and Raw ends uh like that. SPEAKER_00Yeah, we uh so Sundays was LFG, Legends and Future Greats. Uh we started off finding out from Ken Hendricks. He was a bit given a bit of a sabbatical recently. He's ready to return. Harley Wiggins, uh Wiggins? Harley Wriggins uh is going solo for the first time. His sanctions partner recently got injured. Uh and also Layla Diggs. Um she's they're saying right now she's a mix of Bianca and Lash Legend, but she's gotta find herself. Uh LFG, a bit of a background kind of show as well, type of being like a normal wrestling show. Uh yeah, Jax Presley, Harley's partner, is gonna be out for about six months. Our first match is Dorian Van Dukes, uh, defeats Harley Riggins in 522. Uh the former Red Rooster, Terry Taylor, is also on this episode. He's quite happy uh with the match. He keeps reminding Dorian, though, less is more. Um you get hurt hurt more for uh for that, you get more from the doing all the high flying, more facials, more reactions is his kind of uh tutelage to Dorian. Uh Bailey Humphrey uh defeats Mason Holliday in 408. Uh Bubberay Dudley uh says you know Mason's good, she just needs more reps, more time in the ring, and she's coming along. And then Kaylee Armstrong defeats Layla Diggs. Uh, and they mention how they they love Kaylee Armstrong. She's ready to be called up any day now. She pretty much already has been. With LFG has saved on Villet. Uh yeah, and then we checked, I checked out Evolve on Tubi for the first time in a little while here from July 1st. Uh hey, Layla Diggs again. Layla Diggs defeats Gianna Capri in 438. Um they have a uh there's an anime character now called Anye Rune Anya Rune, who uh tried shooting a fireball that didn't exist during the match. So that was uh that's interesting. Uh uh Braxton Braxton uh Braxton Cole comes out. He has a rule book. Uh he's trying to find out a way out of his no DQ match with Harlan Lewis, but before he can find the rule, Harlan Lewis attacks him from behind. And we said we're right into their no disqualification match. Harlan Lewis defeats Braxton Cole in 7-10. Your current Evolve heavyweight champion of Aaron Rourke comes out. He thanks Harlem for having his back recently and says, hey, no better way to thank you than giving you a title shot. So setting up Aaron Rourke versus Harlan Lewis for the championship soon. We get a promo from Sloan Jacobs. Uh this is actually Jacob's uh second time with the company. She actually was with NXC before. Uh got released in his back, so good for Sloan. Uh, and then uh we find out next week we get in the Nikita Lions Championship celebration. Nikita Lions had won the Evolve Women's Championship the week prior. Uh Kill Dixon has gone full heel. Uh he's got hot chicks by his side because he's hot himself. Yeah.

Uh Jakari Ball, CJ Fowler, and Santiago Rivera defeat Marcus Mathers, Sam Hadaway, and Cappuccino Jones to main event and evolve. And speaking of main event, there was main event on July 2nd. Uh Carmelo Hayes picks up the win against Axiom in 512. And then Dragon Lee defeats Rusev uh after a quick roll-up in 538. And that's all I got for main event.

SPEAKER_00Labeled as more of a of a player coach, so he might be more kind of like a Lindsay Dorado, or like maybe he'll he'll come on TV every once in a while, but mostly he's there to kind of train it. You know what I mean? So uh but hopefully it's a match or two. I wouldn't mind seeing him on NXT TV occasionally as well. Uh very, very nice, somber opening too, though. We get the 10 bell salute for Joe Doring, uh former TNA tag team champion. Cody Deaner, his former partner, uh, was the one kind of giving the promo beforehand, too. So uh much love to Joe Doring, uh 10 bell salute for him. We then start off the main show with your ultimate X match. I believe what seven people? One, two, three, four, five, so yeah, I was right, seven people. Cedric Alexander retains, defeats the returning amazing, as well as freaking sneaky Cedric. And it was too, I'll get to that. Uh Amazing Red, Frankie Gazarian, Fabian Eigner, Mr. Elegance, Casey Navarro, and Leon Slater in 1028. Uh, yeah, what is it? It was Leon and Red, I believe, where uh they both had like an end of a title. Yeah. And then uh Cedric went shroop and took one. That counts. It's I don't think that was always the Ultimate X rules, but yeah, they have amended it a couple years back or a few years backwards. You gotta grab it and then like make it to the floor first. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like it's not just who unhooks it, technically.

SPEAKER_00Uh yeah. Uh afterwards, though, we got Kazarian. Uh he's cutting a promo in Amazing Red, but it's a nice promo because he announces Amazing Reds going into this NA Hall of Fame.

Demon Bunnies, your new knockouts, tag team champions. Uh, and then we have a triple threat match mystery opponents. First, we get Rich Swan coming out. I'm happy to see Rich Swan on the on the show. And then Santino has somebody coming in the match as well. It is a debuting Uha Nation, formerly known as Apollo Cruz. So, yeah, Apollo Cruz, uh Uha Nation joining TNA. I'm not sure. I haven't read if it's like a full-time. I know later on him and Moose have a moment where it's like, oh, I'm glad you're here. So I'm guessing it's definitely at least for a little bit. If not full time, we'll see. You know, because CNA is one of those people like they'll sometimes hire people for one night, yeah, a loop, full time. It's it's always kind of hard to know. Uh, but I'm guessing he's at least gonna be uh at least in a couple shows. Well, if not full time, we'll find out soon, I would imagine. Uh Moussafa does retain though in 940. Musafa's still your international champion, which by the way, did you see the cool news with Musafa? Oh, yeah, he's fighting our boy No Avail.

Of course, lots of rumors that uh we could be seeing Santana popping up in NXE. His contract supposedly was winding down. He's been on NXE several times before. SPEAKER_05Yeah, I've been hearing that for a few months too, uh, since his run on there when he was uh champ. So yeah, no, good for uh Mike Santana. That's a big opportunity for him. He's he's really knocked it out of the park with his opportunities over the last year, and and uh so good for him if we can do that. And uh good for Nick Nemeth, two-time TNA world champion. Cool, cool, cool.

Ryan Nemeth opens the show to introduce his big brother and new TNA world champion, Nick Nemeth. Uh, he comes out to celebrate it. Then Casey Navarro shows up. Uh, and then Ryan won't shut up, and they're arguing, and Nick's like, stop it. You guys need to have a match. Casey, Ryan, you're having a match tonight. You're gonna move on. We're gonna move on afterwards. Nemeth, there's anyone to challenge him uh now that he's champ again, and then they're on their way. That's how we start out the evening. Uh next, uh GM Miller chats with Leon Slater about what's next after Ultimate X. And then he talks uh about his match with Eddie Edwards later, and also says he's not done with Cedric as long as Cedric's still the X Division champion. So Leon has a lot on his plate still, even coming up, even after coming up short in Ultimate X. Uh, the Knockouts television championship tournament begins. And in our first first round match, it's Mara Shade taking on Tasha Steels. Mara Shade gets the win and advances to the next round in the television title tournament. Next we have the X Division Championship number one contender six-way scramble. Uh, it's kind of the Ultimate X competitors, right? Essentially, that were in the last one. Most of these guys in the Ultimate X match, too. Rich Swan, BDE.

Uh he needs uh someone to step up for him. Um we get uh Ricky Sosa coming out for a promo. Uh Ricky Sosa uh beat Eric Young at Slamiversary, and uh he's uh riding high on that win. And then the righteous comes out to try to release his potential, like they did with the Hardys, or at least like they say they did with the Hardy's. Uh so everybody's courting Ricky Souza here. Yeah, yeah. They they're oh they thought they were done, they didn't have much left, and then we and we made them realize that they still had something in them, and you know, they're trying to cult them into things.

Uh next is the next first round match in the knockouts television championship tournament. Allie versus Heather by Elegance. Rosemary and M by Elegance are at ringside. My goodness, I always forget how tiny Heather by Elegance is. Um she picks up the win with help from M and moves on in the tournament. Uh next we have the new knockouts world champion Zaya Brookside out for a promo. That's not long before Lady Ying Lee arrives and says there was a day when she would be happy, would have been happy for Zaya, but not after the way she got it done. Calls Zaya a fake bitch, in fact. That's how uh upset she is about it. Uh and she then invokes her rematch clause for next week. Zaya attacks, but Lee is too fast for. And then Lee says, I want an ODQ match. You want to get tough? Let's have an O DQ match. So could have uh what would a Albany New York street fight be called? An Albany New York you can't just call it an Albany Alban Albany street fight. You gotta have like um the uh oh fuck. I can't think of any creative right now. It's it's it's just an ODQ match.

On the main show, we start off with the Young Bucks, the Bucks of Youth. Uh Matt and Nick, they pick up the win in a triple threat match against Shickle Takagi and Titan, as well as Mystico and Mascara Dorado in 1745. Uh, one of the several great matches, good show. Wrestling-wise, this is a solid, solid show. Kenny Omega defeats Zack Zaber Jr. in 26-25. John Maxley uh retains the Continental title, defeating Bandito in 1812. Shodo Umino, who retains the New Japan Global title against Pac in 1812. Good stuff there. Uh, we have the women's championship on the line. What's up, bitches? Thecla's in the house. Uh she defeats Starlight Kid in 1842. Uh Cope and Christian, uh, Christian and Cope, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage defeat the dogs of David Finley and Clark Connors in 1645. This might be one of my least favorite matches of the night, and it's still a good match.

Because it's just it is one of those nights, like anytime like there's a like you know, Starlight Kid may be very talented, she's not gonna randomly take the title off Decla. You know what I mean? So stuff like that. And like we know like Cope and Christian are about to fight the the young bucks, they've been setting that up, so like that they're gonna defeat the dogs, kind of things like that. Uh Owen Cup match here, though. Mercedes Monet becomes a two-time Owen Cup champion, defeating Maya World. Uh good match for Maya World too. Maybe a bit of a breakout here. She's she's had a bit of a breakout tournament, so uh hopefully they keep doing stuff with her. Uh big old big ass cage match. Uh Dekeshta, Derby Allen, Orange Casting, Mark Briscoe, Roderick Shaw, Kyle O'Reilly. They defeat MJF, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Kaziska Okada, Jake Doyle, and Andrade, Al Idolo, Blood Guts, but it's not Blood and Guts, but there was Blood Guts. Uh we thought that was gonna end the match, but no, we ended with uh match of the year, uh, Stalwart, real Osprey defeating Shane Swirkling, uh Swerv Strickland. I think I just tried to say Swerve and Shane at the same time. Swerve Strickland, 3505, another great match here. Um yeah, good stuff. So yeah, so that is uh the fifth Forbidden Door. Osprey is your own cup champion. Uh then we start with Dynamite now, July the 1st. Uh Osprey, we go back. Technically, this is taped during um uh the opening segment anyway is taped during Forbidden Door. So Osprey still has has some blood on him, mostly Swerve's blood. Swerve was like scarily like like probably at the 15-20 minute mark of a 35-minute match, like uh, this doesn't I don't feel good. This up uh there's puddles all over the place. Yeah. Oh yeah, and like like goop like he's kind of goopy too.

SPEAKER_00Um yeah, so Osprey is excited that he won the cup, him and uh uh Alex Windsor, his wife are holding hands. I mean, yeah, they probably cost like three to four dollars to print. So yeah, why would you give them out to everyone?

Uh pretty sure called him a pale bitch. Uh uh then we have already we segue into the um MJF and Mark Briscoe match. MGF retains the world title in the opener in 1635. Uh another match, again, speaking of bloody quickly, not even two minutes in, Mark Briscoe is bloody 17-minute match. Uh probably closer to 20, because I believe there's a commercial break, so take out a to add a couple more minutes too. So I just want to be like, damn, man, a minute like 54. Um We get a post-match attack. Uh he attacks him with a diamond ring on. He goes to do it again, but Kenny, by God, Omega stops him. Umega says, hey, if you still want to fight, why don't you fight me tonight? I don't think that's very face or very brave of you. The guy just had a 20-minute match. Um uh, of course, MJF says no, but it goes, you know what? I will fight you next week, or I'll fight you soon, if you promise that you'll never challenge again. They're doing that again.

Uh, we get Kevin Knight uh retaining his TNT title, defeating Leo Rush in 545. Uh Leo, by the way, is uh the Ring of Water TV champion. He's rocking that title on the way to the ring. Uh Darby Allen then comes out. Looks like we're setting up Darby versus Kevin Knight. Uh, but also from the crowd, Speedball also uh watching the shenanigans. So Speedball also may be high-end Kevin Knight rematch. Uh here comes one of my big pet peeves in wrestling. So we get a Tommaso Champo promo, uh Chris Jericho attacks him, and then Ciampa goes to murder him with an electric screwdriver. He literally is ready to just shove it in his head, song seven style. Um, I don't know if they missed timed or if they just wanted to do a quicker one, because usually this is like a lengthy match. Yeah. I looked at the last work of honor one, it went over almost 28 minutes. This was less than 12. Oh wow. Uh 1128. Kind of a lot of quick eliminations here.
SPEAKER_04If you're gonna do that kind of match, you shouldn't do that, I think. Am I wrong in saying that? If you're gonna have that kind of a match.

Um because they also changed it too, because if you I don't know if you know Survivor with the fittest, it's usually, I believe, with like a four corners, two people in the middle, eliminations. This was literally ding ding ding, all six were five.

Yeah, first first time at least for me, I think, really seeing much of uh Drilla Maloney from New Japan. But uh he impressed. He did good, and I love me some Shingo, so this is a good opener.
